How SkyRewards counts your flights

The figures on this page are today's settings: they change whenever the site's settings do.

Flying for SkyRewards

A flight is only tracked if your VATSIM flight plan carries the RMK/SKYREWARDS remark. Without it you are flying on VATSIM without us knowing, and nothing will be credited.

A tour is flown leg by leg, in order: only one leg is active at a time, and that is the one your departure and arrival must match.

As long as no leg has been validated you may leave a tour and start it over. Once the first leg is validated, you are committed to the end.

What a flight must show

Once the flight ends, the recorded track is read back. It must show:

  • a real takeoff: a track that never leaves the ground is not a flight;
  • a departure and an arrival at the declared airports;
  • consistent progress: no time acceleration, no position jump;
  • the leg's own constraints, where it sets any: required callsign, aircraft type, wake category.

On a SkyRewards Executive mission, the required aircraft is the one you chose when signing, for every leg. The callsign is up to you.

On a free-callsign route of an airline created by SkyRewards, the flight number is up to you: only the airline ICAO code is imposed.

An aircraft that never left the ground is not recorded at all: neither validated nor refused, it does not appear in your logbook.

If you lose your connection

A dropout does not cancel the flight straight away. The system waits 15 minutes for you, or 30 minutes for a leg longer than 700 NM.

Come back within that window on the same route and tracking picks up at your current position. The ground you covered meanwhile is counted.

After the window, the flight is judged as it stands: validated if it was finished, refused otherwise.

XP and credits

Every validated leg earns XP, computed on what you actually flew, and credits in proportion.

Per nautical mile1 XP
IFR bonus0%
VFR bonus50%
Credits30% of the XP earned, at least 25

With today's settings: a 300 NM leg flown in 60 minutes under IFR earns 300 XP and 90 credits.

Levels

XP raises your level, up to level 100. Each level pays 1,000 credits, plus a booster every 5 levels.

Level 2500 XP
Level 31,250 XP
Level 42,200 XP
Level 53,250 XP
Level 64,400 XP

Cards and boosters

A booster comes with every validated leg, another when a tour is completed, more as you level up or from the shop.

On opening, each draw has a 15% chance of giving nothing, and a 5% chance of spinning the wheel a second time.

Duplicates are possible: the draw takes no account of what you already own.

Your odds by rarity

These shares do not depend on how many cards a collection holds: the draw picks the rarity first, then the card. They are the shares of a draw that yields a card. If a collection holds no card of a rarity, its share goes to the others.

Common60%
Rare25%
Epic12%
Legendary3%

Marketplace and trades

Selling a card on the marketplace costs a 8% fee on the sale price, taken from what the seller receives.

A trade between pilots is taxed at 8% of the estimated card value, paid by each side.

No card may be listed below its floor price:

Common200 credits
Rare600 credits
Epic1,000 credits
Legendary1,500 credits

What is not allowed

  • accelerating simulator time or teleporting the aircraft;
  • letting someone else fly your account, or flying on someone else's behalf;
  • filing a flight plan that does not match what you fly.

A flight falling under any of these is refused. Repeating it can cost the account.
